STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Community organizations are encouraged to participate in an upcoming community training forum on racial understanding Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The event, Coming Together for Racial Understanding, is aimed at improving the ability and confidence of participants to talk about and understand racism. Program coordinators invite area organizations to send diverse representation.

The first day focuses on opening the lines of communication. The second day provides educational components. Training will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Starkville. It begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. each day. Participants will enjoy a screening of the documentary “Prom Night in Mississippi” with Morgan Freeman.

Seating is limited to no more than 30 contributors. Participants must preregister by Oct. 24. Registration is free and includes program materials and breakfast and lunch provided by Starkville restaurants both days. Trinity Presbyterian Church is located at 607 Hospital Road in Starkville.
