Teacher Workshop - Glass Roots

Glass Roots: Cultivating the Salt Marshes of Tomorrow is a hands-on learning experience for middle school students (grades 5-8) focused on marsh and dune restoration. Participants will grow plants in recycled glass sand, conduct experiments to optimize growth, and explore the role of these ecosystems in climate resilience and watershed management. All necessary materials, including plants, soil, and a supplementary classroom module, will be provided to support state learning standards.

1.4 CEUs will be available at NO COST TO YOU! Lunch will be available each day.

The workshop will be held on June 25-26, 2025 at the MSU Coastal Research and Extension Center (1815 Popps Ferry Rd. Biloxi, MS 39532). Each day will run from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
