Row crop field day returns to Verona
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Row crop farmers and consultants from across north Mississippi will have the opportunity to learn about current research during the upcoming field day at the Lee County Agri-Center just south of Verona.
The North Mississippi Research and Extension Center Agronomic Row Crops Field Day, which takes place every other year, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 14.
The program will include educational and industry exhibits and field research plot tours. This year’s featured speaker will be Mississippi Farm Bureau President David Waide.
The program begins with registration at 8 a.m. The field tour begins at 8:30 a.m. and will feature an opportunity to learn the potential use of FGD (fuel gas desulphurization) gypsum for improved soil properties; corn yield response to foliar fungicides; preplant fertilizer for soybeans; options for nitrogen management; one-pass land preparation for improved drainage on flatland; and the latest on Mississippi’s row crops.
Certified Crop Advisers Continuing Education Credits and certification renewal for professional consultants and pesticide licenses will be offered for participants.
