Tri-state pecan growers plan Vicksburg meeting
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Pecan growers will have the opportunity to see exhibits on every production aspect at the 2008 Tri-State Pecan Trade Show and Convention coming up July 24-25 in Vicksburg.
Instead of the traditional orchard tour, meeting organizers are offering an expanded focus on vendors in the 17,000 square feet of the Vicksburg Convention Center exhibit hall.
Program topics include pecan irrigation, scab control and how to grow clover and other legumes under pecan trees. Another session is “Pecan Money, Labor, Equipment, Harvest & Sales -- It’s Not What We Know, But What We Can Do.”
This meeting is co-sponsored by the Mississippi Pecan Growers Association, Pecan Producers of Louisiana and Arkansas Pecan Growers Association. The meeting is open to association members and nonmembers. Rooms are available at reduced rates at Horizon Casino Hotel, (601) 636-3423. Mention “Mississippi Pecan Growers” to get the special rates.
