Events promote better pasture grasses in 2014
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Cattle producers can learn ways to improve their pastures at upcoming events taking place around the state this spring.
On April 10 in Starkville, the Oktibbeha County Extension office is hosting a cool-season forage tour at the Henry H. Leveck Research Farm on the south side of the Mississippi State University campus. The evening tour will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Topics will include alfalfa, clovers, tall fescue, oats and ryegrass.
The event is free, but early registration is encouraged to allow adequate arrangements for the meal. Contact Julie White, Oktibbeha County Extension director, at 662-323-5916 or [email protected] for more information or to register.
On April 25 in Holly Springs, the Marshall County Extension office will host a similar field day for north Mississippi producers. The free event will take place from 9 a.m. until noon at the north Mississippi Branch Experiment Station at 42 MAFES Circle on Highway 7 North. To register for the program and meal, contact Marshall County Extension Director Janet Jolley at 662-252-3541 or [email protected].
