Register Gulf Coast kids for a floral design camp
BILOXI, Miss. -- Thirty young people will have a unique opportunity to learn the basics of floral design in a half-day camp June 22 with the help of a highly skilled group of instructors.
The in-person event for students aged 8-12 will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center at 1815 Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi. A $30 attendance fee covers all materials and a snack. Participants will take home their floral projects.
Register for the event at http://msuext.ms/floral.
Jim DelPrince, MSU Extension Service floral designer, will lead the camp with assistance from five Extension Master Floral Design volunteers. DelPrince is known as a superb floral designer, and his classes, both in person and virtual, are very popular with adults. This is the third time MSU Extension has offered the camp for kids.
“The young people attending this camp will have a fun time learning how to work with flowers and other plant materials to design beautiful creations,” DelPrince said. “We have held this program in the past and are amazed at the quality of work and creativity exhibited in the students’ designs.”
Kids are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and dress for working with flowers.
