SipSafe Kemper County Profile

The SipSafe program, conducted by the Mississippi State University Extension Service and funded by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is working to reduce lead exposure in children ages birth to 5 years by screening water in qualifying schools and childcare facilities.

  • In Kemper County, 112 children were served. There are about 136 children enrolled in Kemper County, based on a July 2024 report of licensed childcare facilities in Mississippi from MSDH.
  • 44 samples were taken.
  • 2.3% of the results were over 10ppb. 10ppb is the proposed EPA action level for lead in drinking water.
  • 2 facilities were sampled. There are 3 facilities located in Kemper County.

This data was collected between 2021 and 2024.
