MVLA Kenneth Cook Award

Extension Personnel Honored with the MVLA Kenneth Cook Award

The Kenneth Cook Award was established to recognize Extension employees who have gone the ‘extra mile’ and demonstrated strong support for the Mississippi 4-H Volunteer Leaders' Association and 4-H Volunteers across the state.

The recipient is selected by the MVLA Board in appreciation for the hard work and support demonstrated by Extension staff statewide. The nomination form for the Kenneth Cook Award is available below.

Recipients are recognized at the Awards Banquet held at the Bost Conference Center at MSU on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Last year’s (2024) winners included Cassandra Hainsworth, Dale Moore, Lance Newman, and Kassie Peoples.

Ray Henderson’s love for the outdoors began in his youth with learning by doing in 4-H Forestry. He won the State 4-H Congress competition, went to nationals, and placed fifth. After he aged out of the youth development program, he pursued a career with the U.S. Forest Service, and he volunteered in the 1990s as a coach for a few 4-H Forestry teams in Wayne and Greene Counties.
